Modern design is very minimalist, emphasizing clean lines, a lack of decoration or embellishment such as molding, and utilitarianism over function. So, true to its early roots it favors simplicity and function over form. Man-made materials, such as laminate, chrome and stainless steel, often take precedence over more traditional and natural materials, like stone or wood. The result is a sleek, minimal, often shiny kitchen with few distractions.
Contemporary kitchen design, on the other hand, can refer simply to any kitchen designed today (literally the meaning of the word contemporary, as previously mentioned). However, what was contemporary ten years ago is no longer contemporary. Today’s contemporary designs tend to follow an evolving formula of sorts. Contemporary kitchens are essentially an evolution of the modern kitchens, and thus follow many of the same cues:
1. Sleek
2. Contain clean lines (instead of fancy moldings and details)
3. Often incorporates man-made materials (ex. laminates and chrome VS. natural elements)
4. Neutral colors (like grey and white, are also very popular right now)
But, they can also include different styles and design cues, such from Craftsman or Scandinavian styles.
Modular or flat-pack cabinets only come in standard set sizes, meaning the configuration may not work in some spaces. Custom cabinets are made to measure, meaning they come in whatever size they need to, to suit any kitchen design. All of our kitchens are fully custom designed and built to fit your space perfectly.
For laminate kitchens, we can produce and deliver in approximately 3 weeks from sign-off. For polyurethane kitchens, approximately 4 weeks from sign-off. For any kitchen with profile doors, it can take 4-6 weeks from sign-off.
For average sized, single benchtops, installation usually takes between 2-4 hours, sometimes half a day depending on the size and complexity of the job.

An overhang is an area of the stone benchtop that is floating or that extends without cabinetry beneath it (also known as a breakfast bar). It is commonly used on L-shape benches and island benches/counters, where you have leg room underneath to sit on chairs or stools.
For all types of benchtop surfaces (Neolith, natural stone and engineered stone) generally a clean, damp cloth will do the trick. For more stubborn stains, use a few drops of non-bleach, non-abrasive, neutral PH stone cleaner (available at most hardware stores like bunnings), or a small amount of mild liquid dishwashing detergent mixed with warm water. For best results, use a clean rag mop on floors and a soft cloth for other surfaces. NOTE: Some manufacturers (like Caesarstone or Smart Stone) offer a complimentary cleaning kit when you register your warranty online. Check the manufacturer’s website for details.
